Overview

The PVTA Bid System ("TransitBid") is a workplace scheduling tool operated by the Pioneer Valley Transit Authority (PVTA) for internal use by PVTA bus operators and administrative staff. This policy explains what data the system collects and how it is used.

Data We Collect

  • Driver identity: Batch number, name, and seniority rank as provided by PVTA administration.
  • Authentication: A PIN set by the driver for app login. PINs are stored as salted hashes and cannot be read by administrators.
  • Bid selections: The paddle (route assignment) choices made during the bidding process, including days off preferences.
  • Session data: Login timestamps and session tokens for authentication purposes.

Data We Do Not Collect

  • Location data
  • Contacts, photos, or media
  • Device identifiers for advertising
  • Browsing history or app usage analytics beyond crash reporting
  • Personal financial information

How We Use Your Data

All data is used exclusively for the PVTA route bidding process. Driver identity and bid selections are used to assign work schedules according to seniority. Authentication data is used solely to secure your account.

Data Storage and Security

Data is stored on secure servers hosted by Railway (railway.com) in the United States. Authentication tokens use industry-standard JWT encryption. PINs are hashed using scrypt and cannot be recovered. All connections use HTTPS encryption.

Data Sharing

We do not sell, rent, or share driver data with third parties. Data is accessible only to PVTA administration and authorized union representatives as part of the bidding process. Crash reports may be sent to Sentry (sentry.io) for application stability monitoring and contain no personal information.

Data Retention

Bid records are retained for the duration of the schedule period (typically 3 months). Driver accounts remain active as long as the driver is employed by PVTA. Upon separation from PVTA, driver data is archived and eventually removed.

Your Rights

Drivers may request to view or correct their personal information by contacting PVTA administration. PIN changes can be made directly in the app at any time.
